Help your child enjoy the wonderful world of books!

Welcome and thank you for taking the first step toward fostering your child’s reading success! Learning to read is a complex process, as evidenced by the 2018 data which reports that only 44.4% of Michigan’s third graders are proficient readers. If your child is having some reading challenges, they are not alone and there is no time to waste.

Typically in grades K - 3, the teaching focus is on learning to read. After grade 3, the focus is on reading to learn. If your child is not a strong reader, research suggests they may continue to fall behind their classmates.

The good news is that the staff at Read to Succeed - Amy Rolfes and Jo Ellen Mogelgaard - are the experts when it comes to early and emerging readers. In addition to their academic preparation and certifications, together, they have over 50 years of experience teaching and tutoring young children! Amy and Jo Ellen’s decade long collaboration produced outstanding results in a local after-school program where students came into the program reading well below grade level. Using information from the Qualitative Reading Inventory and implementing one-on-one targeted interventions - six months later - 80% of the students were reading on grade level!

If you are curious or concerned about your child’s reading abilities, please contact us. We look forward to implementing these strategies for your young child in the privacy of your home.
