Let’s get started with supporting your child’s literacy acquisition today!

Hello! I’m Amy Rolfes. Since Read to Succeed is in home early literacy coaching, I want to introduce myself, so you know a little bit about me.

My “teaching” career began when I was 10 years old! I started a summer camp for the little kids in my neighborhood, taking a small group of kids to the park to play, do crafts and read stories for a few hours each morning. The neighborhood moms were thrilled, the kids had lots of fun and I realized this was something I was good at and enjoyed!

I went on to get a BA and MA in Education from the University of Michigan, with an Endorsement in Early Childhood Education and Teaching Certification. My elementary teaching career was in private and public schools, interspersed with raising my five (yes five!) children. I am the former Director of Family Learning Institute, in Ann Arbor, where I spent nearly 10 years teaching and tutoring struggling and emerging readers. I have extensive experience with the cognitive, emotional and physical aspects of learning to read that can sometimes be challenging to young children.

I created Read to Succeed with intention. I understand how busy young families are these days, and no matter how much you as a parent want to help your child, there are not enough hours in the day.

I also firmly believe that parents should be playmates, and that means reading together, singing songs, playing games, playing with toys, coloring and talking about everything! It is true that parents are a child’s first teacher, but teach them to have fun, be curious and compassionate and most of all, to think!

Our in home coaching is purposeful. Aside from being super convenient for parents, emerging and early readers deserve privacy, patience and support. Learning to read is extremely complex and we provide a comfortable, predictable routine that will strengthen your child’s skills using tactile, multi sensory, and engaging activities.

I am now retired from teaching and although I love spending time with my grandchildren, I am eager to help your child on their journey to becoming a proficient reader.
